Blossoms and Blue Sky

This tree is in our backyard and really bloomed about April 1st.  There are trees like this all over town. Someone or some nursery must have had a large supply and really pushed the sales.  I have heard they are flowering pear but bear no fruit.  Can this be right?  Ours has no fruit for which we are thankful but we really enjoy the flowers - the second ones after the daffodils appear.

  1. We have Bradford Pear trees here that have flowers like that and no fruit. They are very nicely shaped and grow quickly but are weak trees and blow down easily in wind.
