Scariest Photo I Could Find for Halloween

I think this is called Trollaroid and was sort of a flash in the pan.
It certainly didn't flatter anyone - even if you did
the smiley version.

Halloween Past

How did these two handsome boys decided to go to the Halloween parade at school dressed in
this garb? I cannot believe that I talked them into it. I don't remember having that much influence!

It was reported that the teacher of the imposter on the right did not recognize her student.

Great Shot by L on a Cloudy Day

I am a little sad today. I can remember when we never worried about
our food supply - salads and melons and meats for us and doggie
treats for our pets.
Maybe we weren't aware there were problems and were lucky
enough not to be affected.
I do know that before the 20th century, there were few safeguards in
the meat industry with terrible conditions. Then there was a movement to
correct that and regulations were put in place.
I was hoping we had advanced enough to have solved those issues.

Cheeseburger Soup

These two concoctions are about to be combined into one soup.
It's soup weather!

Halloween

Mother Nature and a spider provided this decoration.
Along with the lights and a deflated black cat, it's very spooky!

I Love Fall

The raking, not so much. . .although L. usually uses the mower to pick up leaves.

Trees

These trees are so pretty every fall.
They are in our front yard which faces west. In the morning when the sun shines on them, the reflection makes our living room pink!

Such a happy coincidence!

The Golden Moment (or is that the Blue Moment)

Too bad I didn't have a better subject to use with the time before sunset.

This is about half the new market we have in our town. It not only has groceries; it has clothing, furniture, a jewelry store, a coffee shop, sushi bar, about 200 different cheeses, bakery and pharmacy.

It might be  considered one stop shopping.

Pound Puppies

Or Rescue Dogs - whatever. They are semi-civilized.

Jack is black.
Jill is orange.

October two years ago was adoption month and if you adopted a dog that was black or orange (?) it was half price.

So we opted for two.

Soup

I was hungry for home made soup yesterday.
I had everything I needed to make vegetable soup.
L. took one look at it and said, "What kind of  meat did you  put in it?"
"It's VEGETABLE soup!"

After eating, he did admit he liked it

The Flying Car

I've been wanting one of these since the 1940's when they first appeared on my radar. (Old enough to read The Weekly Reader.)

Still waiting.

We're Plastic-ized

It's ain't purty but it sure keeps the snow off the screened-in back porch/deck.
And when it's wintery cold and sunny, we can sit out there in comfort.

Bad Peaches

L. bought three beautiful peaches that looked like the one on the right.
Tonight I washed one and cut into it.
Not a pretty site.
They were all discolored and not something I would eat.
These were grown in the USA/EUA.
I would like to complain at the new Market Place but probably won't.

Bush in Portland, OR

Flowers to bring me joy while
I recover from reaction to flu shot.
I definitely think everyone should get one.
I will get one next year...
Seventeen hours feeling bad is better than having the flu,
I keep telling myself.

A New Chair

\
When we were out of something, I can remember my mom saying,
"We are fresh out."
That's what I am.
Fresh out of ideas for the blog.
That will not stop me.
I have permission to post this New Chair
from PN.
Does this look comfortable?
It is to help you use your body to support and
strengthen your core. . .while you work.

Empty Chairs

I don't know why a row of empty chairs seems so odd to me. Are these ever completely filled with people waiting to see the doctors?  I think there are only four physicians on this floor. Besides the ones seen in the photo, there are more lining the other three walls, and many in the middle.

Looks to me like they over invested in furniture.

Cheeseburger and Rolls - to go

Tonight we ordered take-out. A cheeseburger from our favorite joint, Lone Star.
When I went in to pick it up, there were two containers. I thought the fries must be in the second one.
When L. opened the first styrofoam box, he was sure we had gotten the wrong order. There were four rolls and some honey butter!
But the other one was loaded with fries and a giant cheeseburger.
Then I remembered...when you eat there, you get a basket of rolls while you are waiting for your meal, no matter what you've ordered.

We'll save them for tomorrow.

Just a Kansas Scene

Well, today was a follow-up to a strange sleepless night.
Awake till after midnight;
Awake at 3:30 a.m. and finally up at 5:00;
Back to bed at 7:00;
Slept till 11:00 a.m.
No wonder when I ordered at Starbucks I asked for a "Tall, vente, decaf mocha."
Confused the heck out of the clerk on the other end of the speaker.
I got a tall. I guess if there is any question, they honor the first word spoken.

L. noticed what I said, but apparently he is so afraid of my wrath,
he never did tell me of my mistake!
I didn't realize it till after I got home. I then called the shop
and told them I was the nitwit who ordered two sizes for one cup.
The barista laughed and said they were a little confused.
Just another day in the life of an aging nutt.

Seed Pods

 L. was looking for a patch of stickers in our back yard. The dogs keep coming in with those prickly things in their hair/fur.

So far, no plants have been found that are producing the sand burrs but since the dogs are never out of our yard, they have to be somewhere.

As he was looking, he saw these seed  pods on the trumpet vine. We had never noticed them before. I think it's interesting how they form from the flower itself.

Some ants seem to be enjoying the site.
