Two airplanes

We actually saw three planes while we enjoyed a Sunday evening meal at the Airport Steak House.

The tower here, which has been in operation at least since 1957, will be closed in May unless some lightning strikes unexpectedly bringing with it a big bag of money.

When I was in Kindergarten, the only road trip I remember was to the airport where we got to see some airplanes and a joy stick.

That was 1936-37. Google tells me the Hutchinson Municipal Airport was activated in April, 1940.  Not being sure what "activated" means, I'll have to try further research. Don't hold your breath.

Old Ads from Radio Days

Look at your shoes. Other people do. See if they need a Shinola Shine.

You'll wonder where the yellow went when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent.

Hudson. The car you step down into, not up on.

Rinso White, Rinso White ( sung and whistled like the call of the Bobwhite bird.)

Plop  Plop  Fizz  Fizz  Oh what a relief it is (Speedy Alka Seltzer)

Bryl Cream - A little dab'll do ya.

Ovaltine - The food drink for rocket power.

See the USA in your Chevrolet, America is waiting for you to call - sung by Dinah Shore.

Double your pleasure, double your fun with double good, double good Double Mint Gum.

Pepsi Cola hits the spot. Twelve full ounces, that's a lot. Twice as much for a nickel too.
Pepsi Cola is the drink for you. Nickel,  nickel, nickel.....

Winston tastes good like a cigarette should!

All of these ring a bell with me. Any familiar to you?

I Am Prepared to Drink Coffee

For my birthday yesterday, the TX grands gave me gift card for coffee at a little locally
owned coffee shop!  So great! I can get mochas for weeks.
And today in the mail a gift card from Starbucks, a nationwide outfit, arrived from my friend
since 5th grade, JoAnn, who also lives in TX.
We learned to drink coffee together at church suppers where a wise man told us
to learn to drink it black.  "Then wherever you are, no matter if there's no milk, no sugar,
nothing to add, you'll be ok with plain coffee."

Of course now my preference is that mocha flavor.

Dominant Dog

Can you tell that this little girl dog is the one more in charge than the little boy dog?
She is more feisty, more vocal and a more voracious eater than the gentleman named Jack.
Jill needs a firm hand but you have to be careful that she doesn't scratch or mouth it in her enthusiasm.  (It's not a bite - just mouthful of your skin.)

Mix?

The streets are damp.
Some roofs are white.
Our back railing has this mix of snow crystals and frozen water.
The radar shows that we had a mix of ice and snow travel over our location.
Maybe they were right.

My Second Favorite

I love dark chocolate. At first we were buying Hershey's.
Suddenly our store quite carrying that brand.
So L. bought Gharidelli.
It is just as good.
One or two squares a day are said to be healthful.
I can do that.

Dog Toys from Texas

Our grand girls from TX left these dog toys here. Too bad our dogs don't know they are to play with
and not chew to bits.
The pups (when do they get to be full grown dogs?) really missed L. while he was away.
I fed them dry dog food - a really good brand - and they ate it just fine.
As soon as he returned, they waited for tasty additions to their bowls. Amazing how they
know who adds the pieces of  chicken or canned meat to their meals!
They are almost two years old and still very puppified.

Time Change

I have never noticed that Daylight Savings Time had any effect on me. Family members and friends told me how it disrupted their body rhythms.

Well, this year it's a whole different story. Yesterday I wanted to sleep (and I did.) Very tired...
So this morning there is a newspaper article saying that the results on Monday after the "spring forward" Saturday night is the cause of traffic accidents, heart attacks and numerous other bad things.

I'm thankful that all I did was sleep.

Microwave Mishap

I have heard the many stories about cups of water or coffee exploding after being
taken out of the microwave. The nearest that had happened to me was a few
exploded veggies inside the oven.
Today I heated up some of my potato, ham, carrot soup.
After I set it down I put a teaspoon into the bowl.
There was a small eruption. I'm glad I was wearing my
glasses because the potato hit the  specs.
No harm done. I guess the spoon was too cold.
