We actually saw three planes while we enjoyed a Sunday evening meal at the Airport Steak House.The tower here, which has been in operation at least since 1957, will be closed in May unless some lightning strikes unexpectedly bringing with it a big bag of money.
When I was in Kindergarten, the only road trip I remember was to the airport where we got to see some airplanes and a joy stick.
That was 1936-37. Google tells me the Hutchinson Municipal Airport was activated in April, 1940. Not being sure what "activated" means, I'll have to try further research. Don't hold your breath.
