I thought a small burner would heat up a big pot of water if it was on high.
It does. It takes about half an hour to bring the water to a boil for spaghetti.
A few weeks ago our large burner stopped burning. I'm afraid we're going to have to buy a new stove.
Replacing a burner on an old stove - probably $200. Then you wait for another to go out when you could have bought a stove for maybe $500.
We need to go shopping.

Oh, that is never fun. It's so expensive to repair appliances anymore. Last time we elected not to repair and just buy a new one too. And we bought a very cheap refrigerator instead of the much nicer one we had. If we're going to have to replace it every 5 years, why pay a small fortune for a nice one?

Did you try putting hot tap water in the pan? Sometimes that speeds it up a bit.
ReplyDeleteYes. Hubby did that. (I didn't think it would help but it probably did!)
DeleteYes get a new stove! My oven went all wonky one day...afraid it will die..it is a Jennaire uffda.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought if it is electric then maybe you can just replace the burner with a different one...but I bet it is a smooth top.. those are different.
ReplyDeleteYes. A smooth top and we don't know how old it is. House was built in 1978.
