Abilene Home of Ike

The Wichita city council and the airport committee (same group of seven) have voted
twice in their separate meetings, five to two, to change the name of the Wichita airport
from Mid-Continent Airport to
Wait for it:

Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport.

Now that's a mouthful.
Eisenhower grew up in  Abilene, was born in Texas and made Kansas proud.
However, he had nothing to do with the airport since he was in the army.
Oh well. Change is good. Right?

Except for the cost of changing all the signs.

  1. Change is good sometimes. Other times though, it can just be plain old stupid...
    Nice pic!
