World War I Doughboy

I should have put this up for Memorial Day but just ran across it in my pile of photos (!)
A friend bought the original at an estate sale for $8.50. I borrowed hers and had it scanned at a large machine at the court house. Then I just followed the pattern to crochet it in filet. I gave one to my friend whose dad fought in France and then made another to keep.
Filet crochet is a type of crocheted fabric. This type of crocheted lace is grid like because it uses only two crochet stitches: the chain stitch and the double crochet. Filet is from the French and Latin meaning thread and net/lace.

    1. Thanks, Margie. Just copied, no original patterns in this mind!
