A November Afternoon

With the temperature at 75, I walked the backyard. Our neighbor's
Pampas Grass was almost glowing in the sunlight. As usual, the wind was gently
moving  them. I hope the forty mile per hour gusts stay in Manhattan.
One thing nice about "the wind comes sweeping down the plain" is that
we get rid of any air pollution.
I know that quote is from "Oklahoma" but it sweeps here too.

Colorful Decorating

The above green house is in Kansas.

This one is in Portland, OR.
Too bad they aren't side by side.
What a wake up that would be for the neighborhood every morning.

I think this is one of those situations where the phrase,
"What were they thinking?"  might apply.

Adorable Dog

This is a rescue dog in Oregon.
Is that a faux fur wrap?

Overgrown

I lived in this house from 1944 to 1947.  It looked like the black and white photo then.
Today it is in total disrepair.
The bushes hide the house but the roof is damaged and the whole place
needs paint.

I wish it had stayed in our family. Built by the McCandless family
when there was nothing north of 12th Street but wheat fields.

11th and Main Street

There is a proposal for a Dollar General Store on this corner. Across the street is part of the Hutchinson Clinic. To the south is a small office complex so there are some businesses in the area.

However, this type building will not be compatible with the area. Some offers have been made to make the exterior something besides vertical sheet metal but nothing in writing yet.

The other crime is that they plan to tear down that magnificent residence to make room for more parking.  What a disappointment to lose more of our historical homes in a nice little city.

The city council turned down by a vote of 5 - 0 the request for a change of classification!  No Dollar General there.  There are other places in town including vacant buildings that could be used!
