We didn't do anything special. I did cook a nice supper (we still call it that at our house.) We had a roast with all the carrots, potatoes and onions plus creamed peas.
That was nicer that trying to go out and eat. It's been sixty-five years since we got married. We had known each other three and a half months after a blind date was set up by a friend.
His folks thought we were nuts. Mine weren't thrilled. My mom wanted a church wedding. We went to the minister's home and no honeymoon. Back to work and school the next day.
We did have a wonderful celebration for our fiftieth which Elke, our daughter-in-law, arranged. Friends from quilt guild, the tower (FAA) and neighbors were there at the Lone Star Steak House.
I didn't put a photo or announcement in the paper. They actually charge for that service!
Wonder if they charge for obituaries.
