Sunrise January 31, 2016

I happened to be up before the sun today. When I saw out the kitchen window that there would be
some color, I got the camera. Out in the yard, the camera read the darkness and used the flash. That would be the first photo. I turned the flash off and got the second shot thirteen seconds later. I found the difference quite interesting. It was also a little chilly out there.

Miniature Turban

I saw a cute baby on the internet with a cute turban. The pattern was provided so I had
to try it.

Mine's not nearly as fetching as the ones shown online. And the size seems to be
appropriate for a doll, not a "0-3months" baby.

The Beard (plus a another hat)

Here is the "beard" I mentioned yesterday. It is supposed to be sewn into a hat and used when it is super cold. I made one separately with a strap to go over the top of the head to hold it in place.
The white hat  is very similar to one I saw being worn by Samuel L. Jackson in a photo. I love to see what kinds of hats he wears and was surprised to see one like this.

More Hats

With a cold that has been with me since the middle of December, I have not been doing much worth blogging about. I have made more hats - and a beard. These are the latest two and I think this pattern in my favorite. Large hook, loose stitches and can be made in one day if you don't do much else that day. Called a Slouchy Spiral Hat, it was discovered on the internet below a knitted hat with tiny owls circling the brim! Very cute but I gave up knitting when I determined it was very slow going in my hands.

Cutting It Close

I had some yard left over from another project so decided to make a small hat. Worried that I might
not have enough yarn, I worked to the last row of the cuff and left out one row. Then instead of 4 chains in each picot, I cheated and did two.
You can see how much yarn was left over when I finished off the end.
Sometimes, you just luck out.
