Father's Day Surprise

Our son and his youngest daughter drove here from the south to celebrate with his dad.

Sorry for them, we put them to work.

Our Granddaughter made delicious beef stroganoff!

We loved having them come to visit.  We wish the other son and family could have been here too.
They are more than three times as many miles away as the Texas group!  Too far for a day trip.

Fabric

It is so boring around here that I haven't had anything to report for several days. The check saga is still unsolved. No emails, no calls, no letters, but also no notice of late payment so I guess that is a good sign.

The photos are of some fabric that I just really love. I put it on an odd shaped pillow and I was told it was ugly. It is not round, oval, square or rectangle.  It is just an odd shape. Anyway, I like it and love the fabric!

No New News

Luckily not much has been going on around here. That's nice. I have spent too much time talking with employees in companies far, far away. And there is still no resolution to the check that was cashed but they have no record of it.

Patience is needed on that one.

Many places are still flooded and now it has become hot with real summer temperatures - 91? I feel so bad for those whose houses and crops are under water. The headline today on the weather column in our paper said that May was a record month for rainfall in Kansas.

I wonder what August will bring.

Prices

Our major grocery says Good Food, Lower Prices.

I wandered from the yarn counter to the food area yesterday while I was at another large store that has a W on the front. The brand of coffee we buy appeared to be in a larger plastic can. Can you call plastic a can - I guess container would be better.

I checked the amount of coffee and the price and bought it. When I got home I checked our coffee label.  Eight ounces less and almost a dollar more!  Amazing.

Just One of Those Days

Having spent yesterday morning on the phone trying to get a business transaction straightened out and then spending the afternoon on the phone with the cable provider wondering why our bill went up thirty dollars from the month before, I was hoping for a calmer day today.

(It's odd when the business sends you a statement that you still owe a payment for May when we have a cancelled check showing the check was cashed May 8th.)

And today I spoke on Facebook messenger with my best friend who happens to live in New Jersey.
Later I tried to call her and I get the message that my camera is not turned on. That has been a common message and it usually fixes itself. However, on a try a few minutes later the message reads there is no contact with a camera OR a microphone.

I need help. PN, when are you available????

Things get tedious sometimes.

Style

I don't think much about style for myself - think jeans or sweat pants. But I do like looking at styles from different periods. The old movies of the 1930's and '40's are fun to watch for the fashions.

Lately I notice the trend to more and more skin tight things. Not just pants but skirts and dresses. Many tv weather women wear quite tight items. Even at different stages of their lives including pregnancy.

I saw a dress today that seemed to cup slightly under the rear of the wearer. I pointed it out to Lee and he said, "If she is wearing it, it must be the style."

Witness to a Wreck

I went to Walmart early to buy more yarn. They really run out of each color quickly. Or maybe they just don't keep their counters full and there is more in the store room. So I substituted.

As I was headed west and stopped at a light at East 17th Street and Hiway K61, two motorcycles went by headed south. Suddenly they collided! Right in front of me.  I'm not sure if the one that was passing on the right swerved into the one on the left or the guy on the left started to change lanes. The next thing I saw was a man thrown from his bike and rolling across the westbound lane of 17th Street. His bike had somehow turned right was proceeding west down the eastbound lane of 17th, barely missing a car. The traffic light was still red for me so I saw the bike head to the right and end up on the curb of the westbound lane. The man who was thrown from that bike was walking toward it. Luckily there was no traffic in that lane for the run away bike to contact!

The light changed to green for me so I drove forward very slowly. (No one was behind me.) I passed the other bike which was lying in the middle of the highway with the rider sort of kneeling beside it. He wasn't thrown like the other rider was. It looked like the handle bars and the fairing were disconnected from the rest of the machine.

I hope they weren't seriously hurt.

That bike proceeding across the lane with no one aboard reminded me of the horse in the last Kentucky Derby.

P. S. I can't believe that how you spell fairing - I was trying for "fehring" or something more exotic.
